Official Biography

Late Summer 2007 and the charts are cluttered up with gloomy indie bands and stage-school kids. Yep. And the Pope is still a catholic, and bears do indeed shit in the woods.

Sonny J arrives to gatecrash what, lets face it, is a pretty dismal party. You may not know the boy yet, but be patient children for he comes bearing gifts, the first of which comes in the shape of debut single "Can't Stop Moving"; a sonic smash n grab more infectious than the ebola virus and twice as dangerous for the dullards currently dominating the nation's airwaves. CSM is a one part Sly Stone, two tablespoons Opportunity Knocks, with a pinch of The Avalanches thrown in for good measure.

But there's more ladies and gentlemen, much more to Sonny's debut album Disastro. You'll hear snippets from the Rockford Files, pieces of cod astrology, end of pier northern cabaret, mix n matching the likes of The Hues Corporation, The Stooges, Mellow Gold era Beck and Indian B Movie soundtracks; often in the same tune.It veers between trashy, fucked up, and addctive to melancholic and affecting without missing a beat..

DISASTRO the debut album is out March 2008

SONNY J LATEST-The jim is enjoying some heavyweight plays at the moment.Having been picked up by xfm in manchester and glasgow and playlisted at 6 music,it seems the good folk at radio one have now found sonny's cheeky charm irresistable ,and the likes of annie mac,rob da bank, huw stephens and now the trophy twins have all felt compelled to spin this summer's main feelgood anthem "can't stop moving"-you'd have to be a shoegazing bedwetter to not get it.summer's coming ..and so is sonny jim..so get in early ..grab a copy and shake yo thang etc.

Wine For My Men - We Ride At Dawn

WINE FOR MY MEN-WE RIDE AT DAWN

congrats in order to LIVERPOOL FC [sonny j's heroes] who overcame the corporate machine known as chelsea-i preferred them when they were sponsored by le coq sportif in the old days.Talking of which,i got involve in a row/bet with some chavski fans in a boozer not so long ago over the le coq issue-these hardened men insisted that chelsea were only ever replicated by umbro..mmm...think not..anyway ..these trivialities seem important after a skinful an i bet these gentlemen twenty good pounds that john bumstead, kerry dixon, pat nevin et al could be seen sporting a rather savvy le coq outfit [with a gulf airlines sponsor to boot- mid 80s]....needless to say, sonny won the bet with these scallys and needless to say ,they never coughed up...ah well..must be hard supporting a soulless footie team.....p.s.when cockney teams turned up in the al' days,al you'd see was a sea of bloody pastel sweaters singin'" one man went to mow "while us northern lads were in dinky litttle semi flared chords n classic samba adidas trainees...
anyways..enough of that lark...well done the reds! sonny J X IN RAFA WE TRUST...
